Digital technology is being fully used in govt. administration: Information Minister
Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr. Hashan Mahmud said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government is working to build a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ and humane state to face the challenges of globalization.
On Tuesday (May, 30) afternoon in the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University, he expressed his thoughts while speaking as the chief guest at the publication festival of the book 'Dream Smart Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina' by Professor Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Hasan Babu, Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Dhaka University and Chairman of Dhaka Stock Exchange. The 23 chapters of this 392-page book cover various aspects of building a Smart Bangladesh.
"We were many years behind the first three industrial revolutions but under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister's ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy's idea, we are able to engage Bangladesh with the fourth industrial revolution i.e. information and communication technology, robotics, artificial intelligence at the right time”, said the Awami League's Joint General Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

Highlighting the benefits of establishing digital Bangladesh, the Minister of Broadcasting said, when the public life of the whole world came to a standstill, economic activities came to a standstill after the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in 2020, Bangladesh did not stop, everything went on from running the government to teaching students.
He said, that is why Bangladesh is the third among only 20 countries to achieve sound GDP in the financial year 2020-21. In that fiscal year we surpassed India in per capita income. In a joint survey by Nikkei Institute and Bloomberg, we are fifth in the world and first in the subcontinent in dealing with the corona pandemic. These have become possible due to the creation of Digital Bangladesh and reaching the people of remote villages with internet facilities.
Hasan Mahmud thanked the author at this time. He said, 'Digital technology is being fully used in government management. In that context, the new idea that we want to present to the people is 'Smart Bangladesh' ahead of the upcoming elections. Smart citizens, smart society, smart government and smart business are needed to build a smart Bangladesh.'
At the same time, the minister presented himself as a citizen in his speech and said that in this era of globalization, people are running for themselves, for fame, for wealth, there is no leisure. In this way, people's humanity, sense of compassion should not be lost. Human quality is disappearing. It is absolutely necessary to emphasize that our family and social values should survive and stand on a stronger foundation in moving the country and society forward.
